Krystal Manitius graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Honours Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Ottawa in 2006.  She then received her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2009.  She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2010.

While completing her undergraduate degree she worked for a criminal defence sole practitioner in Ottawa.  After her first year of law school, Krystal worked at Osgoode Hall’s Community Legal Aid Services Clinic in both the criminal law and family law divisions.  Following her second year of law school, she worked with two criminal law sole practitioners in busy Toronto legal practices, appearing in all Ontario Court of Justices in the Greater Toronto Area.  Krystal completed her articles with the same sole practitioners and was called to the Ontario Bar that year.

Following her call to the Bar Krystal went on to work across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond where she maintained a criminal defence practice in trial litigation and appeals, as well as quasi-criminal law.  Krystal has a plethora of experience in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law, particularly fighting against state infringements of individuals’ rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  She is also proficient in firearm and Controlled Drugs and Substances cases.

Krystal defends the rights of her clients in both legal and non-legal capacities; she sits on the Community Living Board of Directors, ensuring inclusion and empowerment for people with developmental disabilities and their families.  She also is a member of the Durham Lawyers’ Associate Board of Directors and a member of both the Criminal and Legal Education Committees.  She also volunteers regularly for the Public Legal Education Association of Canada and coaches for the annual Kelly Cup Mooting Competition.  Krystal has also been a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association for over a decade.

In 2022 Krystal joined Barrison Law and will continue to provide conscientious representation for her clients by ensuring they receive a proper and thorough legal defence.
